Description:
Finding a summer program for a child with special needs can be a daunting task. You want a program that understands your child’s unique needs and can help him or her succeed. Students who do not attend summer school are at risk for learning loss and an increase in challenging behaviors. Green Chimneys, a leader in special needs programming since 1947, is offering a six-week summer program at Clearpool Education Center in Carmel, NY. The Clearpool summer program will serve children, 5-18 years old, who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, social and/or learning challenges.
OUR PROGRAMS … Clearpool is a program of Green Chimneys School, which is an 853 school approved by the New York State Education Department. Clearpool offers a structured environment, individual attention and guidance for students with special needs. During the six-week program, students have a strong academic program and also enjoy all the fun and activities of a traditional summer camp. Special programs and teaching methods that emphasize academics, speech & language therapy, daily living and social skills are incorporated into the Clearpool experience. Clearpool’s unique play-and-learn program was developed after careful study and practical research, assuring each child receives all the rich benefits of school life combined with an active adventure program. Educational goals are integrated into summer fun activities such as: swimming, sports, music, hikes, nature study, arts and crafts, dancing, campfires, animal care and more! It’s all done in a fun-to-learn and play manner with specially trained, caring teachers and teacher’s aides from around the world. Individual development is continuously monitored and students receive guidance on appropriate social behavior, team and group cooperation, and the ability to assume simple and varied responsibilities.
